19 Apr 2008 - Support Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Urgent! Appeal Denied

Mumia Abu-Jamal faces death

penalty or life imprisonment

Free Mumia Now!

The Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia has ruled against a new trial for Mumia Abu©Jamal,

and also ruled that any future hearing on his case would be strictly limited to the question of whether

he should be put to death or spend the rest of his life in jail.

It is critical that all those in support of Mumia come out and voice their anger and outrage at this

decision. We need to mobilise now to demand his immediate freedom!

Mumia has been imprisoned on death row for a quarter of a century, convicted of a crime he did not

commit. He was framed for the murder of a Philadelphia police officer because of his history of political

activism and his record as a journalist who was not afraid to speak out for the oppressed. The US courts

have refused to admit a wealth of evidence that proves his innocence, including the confession of a man

who said he killed the police officer. His case dramatically illustrates the racism that lies at the heart of

the US justice system and particularly in the use of the death penalty. Winning Mumiaʹs freedom will

be a victory for all oppressed people that will resonate around the world.

The British government is a major international ally of the US , and protests here and around the world

can have an important effect. In 1995 a wave of international protest prevented Mumiaʹs execution,

even after a date had been set. We need to do it again ¨C and this time win his unconditional release!

Protest

1pm, Saturday 19 April, US Embassy,

Grosvenor Square , London
W1

Mumia is innocent!

Free Mumia Abu-Jamal!

Abolish the racist death

penalty!
